Sell memberships on Ghost
with your payment provider
Ghost only supports Stripe natively. PayGlue bridges every other provider and makes sure payments go through and paid content unlocks automatically, even if you keep Stripe running alongside.

The problem with Ghost + Stripe alone
Three problems. One fix.
Add PayGlue. Connect your payment provider to Ghost: Polar, PayPal, and more. Done in minutes, no developer needed.
Problem
Not available everywhere
Stripe doesn't work in every country. Members in those markets can't pay.
✓ Fixed
Sell in 135+ countries
Use payment providers that work where Stripe doesn't. Add them alongside, no migration needed.
Problem
Tax becomes your job
Stripe moves money. VAT, sales tax, digital goods tax: all on you to file, in every country.
✓ Fixed
Tax handled for you
Use a Merchant of Record (MoR). The provider becomes the legal seller and remits VAT and sales tax for you. You just get paid.
Problem
Locked into one provider
Polar for one-time sales or PayPal for a different market? Ghost can't do that natively.
✓ Fixed
Any provider, your choice
Run multiple payment providers in parallel: subscriptions, one-time sales, different markets. All at once.
No developer required
If you can paste a code snippet, you're set.
You need a Ghost blog, a Polar or PayPal account with API access, and five minutes. PayGlue generates a ready-to-paste HTML snippet. Drop it into your Ghost theme and you're live. No server setup, no custom code, no webhooks to configure by hand.
How it works
Connect once. Sync forever.
Visitor hits Ghost's Subscribe button
Visitor chooses a membership tier*
Ghost's Stripe checkout and customer portal handle payment
Recurring subscription in Ghost Members
Paste one JS snippet in Ghost's header code injection
Add a button or pricing table anywhere on a Ghost page
Customer pays via Polar, PayPal, etc. checkout
PayGlue verifies the webhook and calls the Ghost Admin API
Ghost grants a comped membership, identical to a manual tier grant. Permanent for one-time purchases.
What PayGlue never touches
No plugin or theme changes
Header code injection only, same as any cookie banner or analytics snippet
No Ghost core changes
Ghost's Stripe subscriptions, portal, and billing keep running in parallel, untouched
One-time = lifetime access
No expiration on tier grants. Revoke fires only if a cancellation webhook arrives

Reliability
No duplicate events, ever
Every webhook gets a fingerprint. Duplicates are deduplicated. Dead-lettered events land in a replay queue, not in your inbox at 2am.
Coexistence
Keep Stripe. Add everything else.
Your Ghost–Stripe integration stays untouched. PayGlue adds a layer on top, so Polar pay-what-you-want can live alongside existing Stripe subscriptions.
Pricing Table
A pricing table Ghost can't build for you.
Ghost only supports one payment type per tier. PayGlue lets you mix free, one-time, and subscription columns in a single table.
Mix any tier type
Free, monthly, yearly, and one-time in one table
Any provider behind every button
Connect Polar, Lemon Squeezy, or any MoR of your choice. Each tier can point to a different provider.

Payment providers
Works with the tools you already use
Not just Polar or PayPal. Any provider with a webhook API. One sync engine for all of them.
Polar, Lemon Squeezy, PayPal, Gumroad, Paddle, Ko-fi, Creem, and Patreon available now. Stripe coexistence from day one. * In development.
Comparison
Ghost + Stripe alone isn't enough.
Stripe is great, but it's not available everywhere, doesn't handle tax, and locks you into one provider. PayGlue gives you the freedom to use the right tool for each market.
Worth knowing
Payment processor vs. Merchant of Record: not the same thing.
Payment processor (Stripe, PayPal)
Moves money. That's it. As a self-employed creator or freelancer, you are the merchant. That means you're responsible for calculating and remitting VAT, sales tax, and income tax across every country your customers come from. Stripe won't file anything for you.
Merchant of Record (Polar, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy)
The provider becomes the legal seller. They collect, calculate, and remit all taxes on your behalf, including EU VAT, US sales tax, and digital goods taxes. They issue you a credit note per payout. One document per settlement, not one per transaction. Massively simpler for international sales.
* MoR providers typically charge slightly higher transaction fees in exchange for taking on full tax remittance responsibility.
PayGlue lets you connect payment providers like Polar or Paddle to Ghost, giving you the tax simplicity of a MoR without giving up Ghost's membership features.
What PayGlue is not
We are not a payment provider.
We never see your transaction data.
PayGlue is a relay layer, not a processor. Your customers pay directly on Polar, LemonSqueezy, or Stripe. We receive only the event notification after the fact: subscription.created, payment.succeeded. Never card numbers. Never bank details. Structurally impossible by design.

Pricing roadmap
Founding Members help fund development and keep PayGlue independent. No investors. No ads. No lock-in. Every spot you take directly funds the next feature on the roadmap. Built by a Ghost publisher, for Ghost publishers.

Hi, I'm André 👋
Founder, PayGlue
I run several German Ghost blogs myself and use PayGlue to connect my own payment providers. I know the pain of being locked into Stripe just because Ghost doesn't support anything else.
I built PayGlue to fix that. Sell memberships your way, with the payment provider that works best for your audience.
Building in public. See everything shipped so far, including what I decided against. Feedback always welcome.
Buy me a coffeeNo Ghost blog? No problem. A coffee is still a great way to support development and keep this project going.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep my existing Ghost + Stripe setup?
Yes. PayGlue does not connect to your Stripe account and requires no Stripe API key from you. Your Ghost + Stripe setup stays exactly as it is. PayGlue adds Polar, PayPal, or other providers on top as a completely separate layer.
What happens if a webhook fails?
Failed webhooks are automatically retried with exponential backoff. If they still fail, they land in a dead-letter queue you can replay manually at any time. Your members are never stuck in a broken state.
How does Founding Member pricing work?
You pay 9 € a month and that rate never increases, as a thank-you for supporting the build early. Every batch of ten pushes the price up for the next people, but never for anyone already in. Public launch changes nothing about your number, and there is nothing you need to do when it happens. Cancel whenever you like.
What happens to my members if PayGlue goes away?
Nothing happens to them. Access that PayGlue has already granted lives in your own Ghost instance, not in ours, so every existing member keeps their membership even if PayGlue is offline or gone entirely. Only new purchases would stop syncing until you reconnect. And because PayGlue is open source, you can self-host it on your own server and keep running it independently of us. That is a deliberate design decision: your business should not depend on ours surviving.
Is there any risk to my Ghost data?
PayGlue never deletes member data. It only syncs access states. If you disconnect, your Ghost members remain exactly as-is. They just stop receiving updates from external providers.
Do you process payments or store transaction data?
No. PayGlue is a relay layer, not a payment processor or host. Your customers pay directly on Polar, PayPal, or Stripe. We only receive the event notification after the fact: subscription.created, payment.succeeded. We never see card numbers or bank details. That is structurally impossible by design.
Why is there no free tier?
Free tiers require a business model that monetizes at scale: ads, data, or aggressive upsells. PayGlue is built to last as a small, focused tool. Founding Member pricing covers real development and infrastructure costs and keeps the product independent. A 30-day trial is available at public launch so you can try before committing.
Security Manifest
Designed so you don't have to trust us.
Your customers check out on your payment provider's page. PayGlue is never in that flow. We only receive a signed webhook event after the purchase is done.
- ✓ No card numbers, no bank data, structurally impossible
- ✓ Every webhook cryptographically verified before processing
- ✓ EU infrastructure, GDPR by default
- ✓ Open source, read every line on GitHub
What we see, what we store,
what is structurally impossible.
Open source
Don't trust us? Self-host it.
PayGlue is fully open source on GitHub. Don't want to depend on our infrastructure? Run it on your own server, inspect every line, and contribute back. Your data, your rules.
