PayGlue vs. Ghost Pro: Beyond Stripe-Only Memberships

Ghost Pro is the official managed hosting for Ghost CMS. It is a great product, but it locks your membership payments to Stripe. If Stripe is not available in your country, or you want to use Polar or PayPal alongside Stripe, PayGlue fills the gap.

PayGlue

PayGlue extends what Ghost Pro already does well. Keep your Ghost Pro setup, add Polar or PayPal on top, and accept payments from audiences that cannot or do not want to use Stripe.

  • Works on top of Ghost Pro, no migration needed
  • Adds Polar and PayPal support alongside native Stripe
  • Lets you accept payments from markets where Stripe is unavailable
  • Gives you provider choice without leaving Ghost CMS
  • PayGlue handles the relay; Ghost Pro handles the hosting
Ghost Pro

Ghost Pro is the official managed Ghost hosting. It handles updates, backups, and CDN automatically. But payment processing is Stripe-only with no option to add other providers.

  • Stripe is the only supported payment provider
  • No support for Polar, PayPal, or other providers
  • Not available in Stripe-restricted countries
  • No way to run multiple payment providers in parallel
  • Cannot customize the payment routing

Independent third-party service

PayGlue is not affiliated with, authorized, sponsored, or endorsed by Ghost Foundation. Ghost® is a registered trademark of Ghost Foundation. PayGlue works alongside Ghost CMS as a separate, independent service.

Frequently asked questions

Does PayGlue replace Ghost Pro?

No. PayGlue is a relay layer that sits on top of your existing Ghost setup, including Ghost Pro. You keep Ghost Pro for hosting and use PayGlue to add payment providers that Ghost Pro does not support natively.

Can I use PayGlue if I host Ghost myself?

Yes. PayGlue works with any Ghost installation, self-hosted or on Ghost Pro, as long as you can provide Ghost Admin API credentials.

Does Ghost Pro plan to add more payment providers?

Ghost has announced no plans to support payment providers other than Stripe. PayGlue was built specifically to fill this gap for Ghost publishers who need more flexibility.
